We didn’t want to write this one, but, as was said, in The Ten Commandments (1956), “What I did, I was compelled to do.” See youtube.com/watch?v=o4jHqEStJZ8
Perhaps, because so-called “Truthers” (i.e. a sort of modern-day, “revolutionary, social reformer, activist”) often compare “politics” to “Kabuki Theatre,” and “lawful due process,” to a “Kangaroo court,” or a “dog and pony show,” and it has been said, “politics is show business - for ugly people,” in their disdain for dishonest “poly-tics,” i.e. virtually every single last “vampire-zombie” politician, with it being virtually impossible to find one single exception, many-or-most “Truthers” have taken to falsely referring to “Puppeticians” (aka Puppet-Politicians) as, of all things, “actors.”
This is not accurate, not the truth, however well-intended. We’re here now to try our best to dispel this long-standing error, to correct the record, by setting it straight.
If you want to be consistently-truthful, and correct, in your respect for the proper use of our very precious “god given” English language, as with all spoken and written languages, it would be far more accurate to call all dis-honest, mis-leaders, virtually anything else, than “actors.” For example, on a good (or bad) day, try “IMPOSTERS,” or “CON-ARTISTS,” and, if that’s too much work, such terms having three syllables, so you need to pair it down to two syllables, or less, then, on a good (or bad) day, try:
PHONIES or FAKES or FRAUDS. In short, ANY-thing, other than “actors.” Please !!
Why? Well, for at least three basic reasons. Now, please try to remember these:
First, as a “Truther,” your job is to always speak the TRUTH. As one hero put it:
The first duty of every Starfleet officer is to the truth, whether it’s scientific truth, or historical truth, or personal truth. It is the guiding principle on which Star Fleet is based. Now, if you can’t find it within yourself, to stand up and tell the truth, about what happened, you don’t deserve to wear that uniform…I’m going to make this simple for you… either you come forward and tell…what really took place, or I will. Dismissed. - Captain Picard, The First Duty (1992)
Second, by their reviews, many “Truthers” indirectly reveal their love for actors-acting:
Carl B. Herman loves Star Trek (writer @ carlbherman.blogspot.com)
Cynthia F. Hodges loves Captain America: Winter Soldier (author Den of Vipers)
Dr. Ana Mihalcea loves Lord of the Rings (author Light Medicine: Spirit & Longevity)
Scott Bennett loves actress Margot Robbie aka Barbie (author Shell Game)
Jim Fetzer loves the Jason Bourne movies (author of actual-conspiracy exposé books)
Ed Dowd loves Dune (author Cause Unknown: Sudden Deaths Epidemic)
There are numerous other “Truther-Activists,” who, like those listed above, invariably end up citing works of theatre-art, when recounting inspirations. Shall we go on?
Third, some of humanity’s most intense and satisfying emotional experiences come whenever we’ve re-discovered what it means to be a HU-MAN BE-ING more fully (i.e. a literal expression of the invisible immaculate order, of “the divine,” underlying the cosmos), by seeing ACTORS-ACTING, even while knowing, full well, theatre and movies, like reading children’s books or poetry, to one’s kids, are merely “make-believe,” story-telling, as artists “inhabit a character’s emotional life,” by pretending you-we are they. Thus, “acting” is not “lying,” as your audience knows you’re not pretending to be “real.” They simply join you-us in the joy of what’s termed “suspension of dis-belief.”
That said, we will end the above discussion, which speaks for itself, with seminal clips from some of the most moving films ever made championing liberty (i.e. freedom of choice), to drive home the point: Respect actors, please, and their work, called acting, which is NOT “lying,” and, far from it, because we-are-in on-the-spell they seek to cast over us, by dramatizing “something wonderful,” to quote 2010. We rely upon them to-writ-large our highest ideals, and feel shame, about our lowest. Public Serpent Puppetitions only hope to steal, deceive and destroy; actors, on the other hand, hope only to delight, inspire, entertain, enlighten. A-Holes seek to hurt; Actors want to help, to improve our quality of life, via their emotive gifts. Thus, here are classic cinematic moments resonating so deeply within, many cannot distinguish them from their own personal memories, as if we lived-acted all these lives, as well.
The Matrix: Reloaded (2003) – Agent Smith: “We’re here because we’re not free.”
Hunger Games Katniss Everdeen: “You can torture us and bomb us and burn our districts to the ground, but do you see that? Fire is catching, and if we burn, you burn with us!”
V for Vendetta (2005) – Cop kills a little girl, merely for running, as children do.
Braveheart (1995) – “I am William Wallace!”
300 (2006) – Xerxes invites Leonidas to kneel before him, to allow his people to live.
Nineteen-Eighty Four (1984) – “Imagine a boot on the face of humanity, forever.”
A Bug’s Life (1998) – Gangster Hopper: “It’s about keeping those ants in line!”
They Live (1988) – Seeing through alien glasses - for first time: “Obey, No Thought.”
Gladiator (2000) – “My name is Gladiator … Husband to a murdered son, and wife.”
Serenity - Firefly (2002) – Captain Malcolm Reynolds: “They’ll swing back to the belief they can make people ‘better,’ and I do not hold with that … I aim to misbehave.”
Truman Show (1998) – “They're on a loop ... You're part of this, aren't you?”
Wizard of Oz (1939) – The Great Oz: “Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain!”
Star Trek: First Duty (1992) – Picard reprimands Wesley - as to dishonest dealing.
Return of the King (2003) – Strider aka Aragon: “This is not that day!”
Return of the King (2003) – Théoden: “Ride to ruin, and to the World’s ending!”
2010: The Year We Make Contact - Bowman: “Something wonderful is going to happen.”
There’s even an entire book about dis-respecting thespians, called “Respect for Acting”:
Stay tuned-Return. Same Bat-time, same Bat-channel, as revise page. Wait for it.
N.B. “Kate Shemirani, Natural Nurse in a Toxic World” may have coined, “Lying Liars of Lies,” to describe, not actors, but all corrupt politicians, CEOs, doctors; mirroring Carl Herman, having coined, “lying sacks of spin, our opponents annually kill millions, harm billions, loot trillions,” and “Peggy Hall, the Healthy American," having possibly coined, “puppeticians” & “W.E.-F-ers.” We must confirm with her.
